Eulogy For Mother

Ruby Alice Foster / Powell

Mother was a good Christian woman that loved God and strived to please him, and I believe she did. Mother never worried about daily strife, if she didn't know how to fix whatever it was, she would take it to the Lord, and she knew he would take care of it. God blessed her in many ways. He gave her poems to write, although none were ever published. The Lord saw fit to give her a good memory. She had imagination and was a great story teller as well, of happenings past and present, stories of her childhood and how life was in those days and we could get a mental picture as she described the hard work they had to do and what they did for pleasure. Though Mother was 94 years plus, her memory was still sharp, to go back to her childhood and remember all the things she did is nothing less than remarkable. She could remember her grand children's names, their birthdays, and where they were born. She remembered her great grand children's names as well as her great, great, grand children. As I worked on my genealogy, I would ask her when and where her brother and sisters were born, she would tell me, and when I found them in records she would be 95% to 100% right. She could also tell me where her sibling’s children were born, with reasonable accuracy. If she didn't remember the exact date of birth, she would say what the weather was like and I could get a good idea of the month they were born in. If Mother had been born among the Indians, and she was part Cherokee, she would most likely have been named The Remember'er, as that was how the Indians kept track of their history, they chose someone that could store this information in their mind and remember it, and pass the information on to the next Remember'er. On the 16 Th of May 2005 she was talking to my brother Glenn and others. Sometime that day the nurse came in and gave her a shot for pain, and Mother's last words after the shot, were Goodnight Lord. She must have known it was time to go, and she REMEMBERED HER  LORD. So thank you Lord for giving our beloved Mother this gift, to remember her lord in her time of need. I love her and will miss her so much, but I know she must be happy to see all her loved ones that went on before her.

Comments By Daughter Helen Foster Shaffort

One of the most important things that I can say about Mom is that she was a devout Christian and shared her love and belief of God with so many people. Her faith in God and her Christian example will follow her in all of the lives that were blessed to know her. Mom was young at heart, always liking to be on the go, and always insisting on giving you something every time she saw you. Mom like to read ,work word puzzles and was quite the poetry writer. Mom is greatly loved by  all of her family and friends and I know that are hearts are heavy because we’ll miss her so much, but, I just remind myself that this separation is only for a season and we will see her again.

Precious in the sight of the Lord  is the death of his saints
Psalm   116:15

Jesus Will Never Forsake

When my way is so dark and dreary and my hill so very steep.
I know he is there beside me in all my Loneliness and fears.
He will lead me and guide me to my journeys end.
Though sorrows may compass me I know He loves and cares.
So put your hand in Jesus hand and he will see you though.
So weary pilgrims stop and rest and lean upon Jesus Breast.
For he is always with us and he will truly bless.
He will never leave us or forsake us, when we really do our best.

Some Day

Some day we will be together forever.

Never to part no more

Singing and dancing around His royal throne.

Sorrow has past forever

There will be no more tears

Nether sickness or death

We will know nothing but happiness.

Because we are home at last.

Joy and peace will never cease

Because Jesus our Lord is there

Thank God for his love and grace.

I Looked

I looked upon a farm one day. That once I used to own:
The barn had fallen to the grown. The fields over grown.
The house in which my children grew. Where we had lived
for years--I turned to see it broken down. And brushed away the tears.
I looked upon my soul one day, To find it had grown with
thorns and nettles everywhere. The seeds neglect had sown.
The years had passed while I had cared for things of lesser worth:
The things of Heaven I let go while minding things of earth.
To Christ I turned with bitter tears. And cried, "O Lord". Forgive!
I haven’t much time for thee. Not many years to live?
The wasted years forever gone. The days I can't recall:
If I could live those days again. I'd make Him Lord of all.

How Do I Know ?

How do I know that Christ is risen?

What proof have I to give He touched my life one
blessed day and I began to live.
How do I know He left the tomb That Easter long ago?
I met Him just this morning, and my life is all aglow.
How do I know that endless life He gained that day for me?
His life within is proof enough of immortality.
How do I know that Christ still lives, rich blessings to Impart?
I know It's true because He lives And reigns within my heart.

Giving Thanks

How do I thank you for the joy in my heart?
How do I thank you and where would I start?
Do I start with your love that I humbly receive?
For my husband, my children.
Or their love for me?

For your son that you gave us to erase our sin?
How do I thank you Lord, where would I begin?
Shall it be the flowers in bloom?
Will it be the sun, the stars, the planets,
Or maybe the moon?

The snow capped mountains
Or the valleys below...
How do I thank you Lord, help me to know.
Could it be the goodness of your children?
When they lend a helping hand?
Or the shouts of "hallelujah" heard
across you’re Promised Land?
How do I thank you for these gifts?
You’ve given to me?

I will thank  you Lord, with every breath of life
that I breathe.

Spiritual Warfare

I had a battle fierce today,
Within my place of prayer;
I went to meet and talk with God,
But I found Satan there,
He whispered, "You can’t really pray,
You lost out long ago,
You might say words while on your knees,
But you can’t pray you know."
So then I pulled my helmet down,
Way down upon my ears,
And found it helped to still his voice,
And helped allay my fears.
I checked my other armour o’er,
My feet in peace were shod;
My loins with truth were girded round,
My sword the Word of God.
My righteous breastplate still was on,
My heart’s love to protect,
My shield of faith was all intact,
His fire darts to defleet.
My courage mounted up afreash,
I gripped anew my sword,
"O Satan, get behind" I cried,
"Oh Glory! Praise the Lord!"
Again his darts came thick and fast,
Faith quenched and put them out;
And while he raised a new attach,
 I raised a victory shout.
I called on God in Jesus’ name,
I pled the precious blood,
While Satan sneaked away in shame,
I met and talked with God.

What If ?

What if,
GOD couldn’t take time to bless us today because
we couldn’t take the time to thank Him yesterday?

What if,
God decided to stop leading us tomorrow
because we didn’t follow him today?

What if,
We never saw another flower bloom because
we grumbled when God sent the rain?

What if,
GOD didn’t walk with us today because we
failed to recognize it as his day?

What if,
GOD took away His message because we
failed to listen to the messenger?

What if,
GOD didn’t send His only begotten Son because
He wanted us to be prepared to pay the price for sin?

What if,
The door of the church was closed because
we didn’t open the door of our heart?

What if,
GOD stopped loving and caring for us because
we failed to love and care for others?

What if,
GOD would not hear us today because
we would not listen to him yesterday?

What if,
GOD answered our prayers the way
we answer the call to his service?

What if,
GOD met our needs the way
we give Him our lives???

A Little Prayer

A minister passing through his church in the middle of the day,
Decided to pause by the altar and see who had come to pray.
Just then the back door opened, a man came down the aisle,
and the minister frowned as he saw the man hadn't shaved in a while.
His shirt was kinda shabby and his coat was worn and frayed.
The man knelt; he bowed his head, then rose and walked away.
In the days that followed, each noontime came this chap,
each time he knelt just for a moment, a lunch pail in his lap.
Well, the minister's suspicions grew, with robbery a main fear,
he decided to stop the man and ask him, "what are you doing here?"
The old man said, he worked down the road. Lunch was half an hour.
Lunch time was his prayer time, for finding strength and power.
"I stay only moments, see, because the factory is so far away; As I
kneel here talking to the Lord, this is kind of what I say:
"I Just Came Again To Tell You, Lord, How Happy I've Been,
Since We Found Each Other’s Friendship And You Took
Away My Sin. Don’t Know Much Of How To Pray, But I
Think About You Everyday. So, Jesus, This Is Jim Checking In."
The minister feeling foolish told Jim, that was fine.
He told the man he was welcome to come and pray just anytime.
Time to go, Jim smiled, said "Thanks." He hurried to the door.
The minister knelt at the altar; he'd never done it before. His cold
heart melted, warmed with love, and met with Jesus there. As the tears
flowed, in his heart, he repeated old Jim's prayer:
"I Just Came Again To Tell You, Lord, How Happy I've Been,
Since We Found Each Other’s Friendship And You Took Away My Sin.
I Don’t Know Much Of How To Pray, But I Think About You
Everyday. So, Jesus, This Is Me Checking In."
Past noon one day, the minister noticed that old Jim hadn't come.
As more days passed without Jim, he began to worry some.
At the factory, he asked about him, learning he was ill.
The hospital staff was worried, but he'd given them a thrill.
The week that Jim was with them, brought changes in the ward.
His smiles, a joy contagious. Changed people, was his reward.
The head nurse couldn't understand why Jim was so glad,
When no flowers, calls or cards came, not a visitor he had.
The minister stayed by his bed, he voiced the nurse's concern:
No friends came to show they cared. He had nowhere to turn.
Looking surprised, old Jim spoke up and with a winsome smile;
"The nurse is wrong, she couldn't know, that in here all the while
Everyday at noon He's here, a dear friend of mine, you see,
He sits right down, takes my hand, leans over and says to me:
"I Just Came Again To Tell You, Jim, How Happy I Have Been,
Since We Found This Friendship, And I Took Away Your Sin.
Always Love To Hear You Pray, I Think About You Each Day,
And So Jim, This Is Jesus Checking In."

America,
Shame On You!

Dear America, may I have a word with you?
Something’s wrong with the Red, White, and Blue.
Those things we used to love and adore are no
longer allowed in our school house door.
Godly values we used to stand upon, even our courts now declare wrong.
My America, please listen to me did we not fight, for our people to be free?
Then why is it today in the Great U.S.A.

That you’re letting our babies die every day. America,
America, shame on you. I never expected these things you would do.
Now you’re telling us to take another look.
And forget what God says in is holy book.
I wonder if Washington and Lincoln would say,
That we should have a Homosexual Day
America, America, I will always love you,
But don’t forget you have a judgment day too.
So my advice from me to you, Please repent and start anew.
Let’s put God back where He ought to be, So you and I can always be free.
For if you contrary should decide to do. America, America, shame on you.

If Jesus Came To Your House

If Jesus came to your house to spend a day or two –
IF He came unexpectedly, I wonder what you’d do
Oh, I know you’d give your nicest room to such an honored Guest,
And all the food you’d serve to Him would be the very best,
And you would keep assuring Him you’re glad to have Him there –
That serving Him in your own home is joy beyond compare.
But – when you saw Him coming, would you meet Him at the door
With arms outstretched in welcome to your heavenly Visitor?
Or would you have to change your clothes before you let Him in?
Or hide some magazines and put the Bible where they’d been?
Would you turn off the radio and hope He hadn’t heard?
And wish you hadn’t uttered that last, loud, hasty word?
Would you hide your worldly music and put some hymn books out?
Could you let Jesus walk right in, or would you rush about?
And I wonder – if the Saviour spent a day or two with you,
Would you go right on doing the things you always do?
Would you go right on saying the things you always say?
Would life for you continue as it does from day to day?
Would your family conversation keep up its usual pace?
And would you find it hard each meal to say a table grace?
Would you sing the songs you always sing, and read the books you read,
And let Him know the things on which your spirit feed?
Would you take Jesus with you everywhere you’d planned to go?
Or would you, maybe, change your plans for a day or so?
Would you be glad to have Him meet your very closest friends?
Or would you hope they’d stay away until His visit ends?
Would you be glad to have Him stay forever on and on?
Or would you sigh with great relief when He at last was gone?
It might be interesting to know the things that you would do
If Jesus Christ in person came to spend some time with you.

Enough Said

Let’s See….

I think it started when Madeline Murray O’Hair
complained that she didn’t want any prayer in schools.

And we said O.K.

Then some one said, "You had better not read the Bible
in school. The Bible that says thou shalt not kill,
thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself."

And we said O.K.

Remember Dr. Benjamin Spock, who said we shouldn’t
spank our children when they misbehave, because their little
personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem?

And we said O.K.

Then someone said that teachers and principals better not discipline
our children when they misbehave. And our administrators said,
Whoa, no one in this school better touch a student when they
misbehave because we don’t want any bad publicity, and we don’t want to be sued."

And we said O.K.

Then someone said, "Let’s let our daughters have abortions
if they want, and we won’t even have to tell their parents."

And we said O.K.

Then someone else said, Let’s give our sons and daughters all the
condoms they want, so they can have all the "fun"
they desire, and we won’t have to tell their parents."

And we said O.K.

And then some of our top officials said that it doesn’t matter
what we do in private as long as we do our jobs. And we said,
"As long as I have a job and the economy is good, it doesn’t
matter to me what anyone does in private, it’s nobody’s business."

And we said O.K.

So now we’re asking ourselves why some of our children have no conscience,
why they don’t know right from wrong, and why it doesn’t bother them to kill.
Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out.
I think it has a great deal to do with "we reap what we sow" Whoa! What a concept!

THE LAMB OF GOD

Mary had a little Lamb, His fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went, The Lamb was sure to go.
He followed her to school each day, T'was even in the rule.
It made the children laugh and play, To have a Lamb at school.
And then the rules all changed one day, Illegal it became; To bring the
Lamb of God to school, Or even speak His Name.
Every day got worse and worse, And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh, We heard the shots and tears.
What must we do to stop the crime, That's in our schools today?
Let's let the Lamb come back to school, And teach our kids to pray.

"IF"

If you never felt pain, then how would you know that
I am a Healer?

If you never went through difficulties, how would you know that
I am a Deliverer?

If you never had a trial, how could you call yourself
an over comer?

If you never felt sadness, how would you know that
I am a Comforter?

If you never made a mistake, how would you know that
I am forgiving?

If you knew all, how would you know that
I will answer your questions?

If you never were in trouble, how would you know that
I will come to your rescue?

If you never were broken, then how would know that
I can make you whole?

If you never had a problem, how would you know that
I can solve them?

If you never had any suffering, then how would you know
what Jesus went through?

If you never went through the fire, then how would
you become pure?

If I gave you all things, how would you appreciate them?
If I never corrected you, how would you know that
I love you?

If you had all power, then how would you learn to
depend on me?

If your life was perfect, then what would you need Me for?

hank You GOD!
