{ A Great Outpouring }

A Great Outpouring
There is good news to share! Of late, I have been sensing and hearing about and even observing first hand a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit around this country and the world. People who have never before experienced the Lord’s awesome presence are now basking in the His grace and glory and love.
From many reports being received from many people in many places, the enemy has been turning up the heat on Christian believers, but at the same time it appears that the Lord is responding by pouring out an even more powerful counter-offensive through the Holy Spirit. But why should we be surprised? Jesus Christ did promise his disciples: ? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but  the Father's which sent me. These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you..? (John 14:23-25 KJV)
This outpouring is being enabled and enhanced in these Biblical last days of the church age by one’s full submission and yielding to the Lord that allows the Comforter (the Holy Spirit) to come alongside, into a position to receive His guidance and discernment.
The Lord continues to remind me that if He initiates, my life and my work will be successful. On the other hand, if we make plans and take action without submitting to His will, the chances for success are greatly reduced. His total blessing comes in what He initiates.
The Christian walk it is not about what we do, but what He does through us.  This yielding of our own egos and mindsets to Him is beneficial, because it takes pressure off of us to perform, gives us important time of rest in Him, and allows the Lord to create in and through us. Believe me, it works!
Following are some specific examples of the Holy Spirit at work in our lives of late:  * People are being called to pray for Israel and the United States? relationship with Israel like never before. God’s judgment on America pertaining to Israel appears to be currently held off by widespread prayer being lifted for the ‘Apple of God’s Eye’ and the shifting of recent positions by the Bush Administration.

* Millions of Christians in every land are becoming more aware of Israel’s purpose, according to God’s Word, and the importance of not giving away her covenant land. In addition, more and more residents of Israel and Jews everywhere are seeing and appreciating the outpouring of love and passion for Israel by Christians.

 * At the recent National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) Convention in Nashville, a huge outpouring of love was demonstrated for Israel. The Israelis in attendance including National Tourism  Minister Benny Elon were overwhelmed with the genuine love  they experienced from Christians throughout the conference and especially by the 1,000 people who attended the Israel prayer  breakfast.

* The movement of the Lord on college campuses around the country is spreading, even so, amazingly, in the liberal Ivy League schools. I spent this past Friday and Saturday hearing  about and experiencing the impact of prayer at Princeton  University. I’m told that 10 percent of the student body (500 of 5,000) is totally on fire for Jesus Christ and are praying  daily for the 4,500 who don’t know Jesus. This phenomenon is reportedly happening at other Ivy League schools such as Harvard, Yale, Brown, Cornell and other schools around the country that have recently been void of Christianity.

* College students in China were able to hear U.S. President George W.  Bush address them live at Tsinghua University in Beijing (and also on television), where he clearly told them that Religious freedom should be welcomed, rather than feared. It?s to be welcomed, because faith gives us a moral core and teaches us to hold ourselves to high standards, to love and to serve others and to live responsible lives.? (Note from Bill: Official New China News Agency transcripts of the speech reportedly edited out all references to freedom and faith, cutting its size in half. The result was a swarm of protests and unauthorized complete transcripts on the internet. Once again, the Holy Spirit was at work!)

Spiritual Warfare

On another front, the spiritual warfare being waged in the heavenlies is being manifested openly with the increasingly courageous and bold words of Christian leaders and government officials. The Lord seems to be using the 9-11events and
subsequent war on terrorism to warn educate the world about the dangers of radical fundamental Islam and other plans of the enemy.
President Bush has minced no words, since September 11, in defining and focusing on the battle of good against evil, even to the point of naming names (Osama bin Laden) and countries (the ‘evil axis’ of Iraq, Iran, and North Korea).
Then it was Franklin Graham (Billy’s son) who spoke out publicly in December against Islam: ?The persecution or elimination of non-Muslims has been a cornerstone of Islamic conquests and rule for centuries. The Koran provides ample evidence that Islam encourages violence in order to win converts and to reach the ultimate goal of an Islamic world. Conversions from Islam to any other faith are often punishable by death.? U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft was quoted by conservative columnist Cal Thomas recently as saying that Islam is a religion in which God requires you to send your son to die for him. Christianity is a faith in which God sends his son to die for you.?  At the NRB Convention, Ashcroft delivered a speech which was enhanced by Biblical citations and in which he said ‘This is not a conflict based in religion’. It is a conflict between good and evil. And, as President Bush has reminded us, we know that God is not neutral between the two.
This past week, the founder and co-host of the 700 Club and former president of the Christian Coalition, Pat Robertson, called Islam a ?violent religion bent on world domination. They want to co-exist until they can control, dominate, and then if need
be destroy.
His comments drew immediate protests from American Muslim civil rights groups and also from the Americans United for Separation of Church and State, whose ultra-liberal director Barry Lynn stated that  ‘this intolerant TV preacher has a national platform to spew hate on a daily basis’. As said earlier, the enemy has been turning up the heat.
Robertson countered on his Monday (2/25/2002) 700 Club program by documenting and displaying the verses in the Muslim Koran which verified and attested to the truth of his original comments. He also stated that the words and actions of Osama bin Laden were more true to the path of Islam than those of most Muslims.
The spiritual warfare continues. We must put on the full armor of God as we take up the sword of the Spirit. (Ephesians 6:10-18)
We are all in God’s eyes works in progress as we witness the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The Comforter brings these words of Jesus Christ to mind:

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. (John 15:5 KJV)
